The Importance of Sleep
Imagine that in the course of our lives, we spend (or should be spending) at least 1/3 of it fast asleep.
The other two thirds of life are filled with the activities that we make most important to us. We fill that time with friends, families and careers. These two thirds are the essence of our life.
We are built to rest though - at least for a good portion of the time. We require it emotionally and physically.
Sleep is a restorative process that we require nightly (or daily if necessary.)
There seems to be no argument that sleep deprivation is harmful and most people in the US are somehow suffering because of it.
Pacing, tossing and turning or just laying awake replaces sleep for nearly 25% of American adults.
There seem to be more types of over the counter and prescription sleeping pills than ever before.
The discovery of the next great sleeping pill is also nearly everywhere we look. We see it on television, in the neighborhood drug stores, even billboards.
Do we want to rely on these pills though, if there are other ways to get the rest we need? Of late, research indicates that the proper sleep setting can assist with trying to overcome insomnia.
It seems that kids can fall asleep almost on command. The older we get though, the harder it can be.
Darkness can certainly give us an advantage when trying to drift off at night. And a comfortable bed with enough cover to keep us warm is essential. It is equally important to make certain that your sleeping environment has the right noise setting.
Some people require a certain amount of ‘white noise’ to drift off while others require absolute silence.
Music has comforted many with this problem and the latest trends in ’sleep noise’ have indicated that a number of types of sounds and noises may help. Our brainwaves must transition from the activity based alpha waves to the sedate and restful beta waves as our bodies prepare for rest.
Determining just what noise works best can require some trial and error. Finding the right one though may make a big difference for some people.
It’s true and I know it personally. A number of people have been testing my new method for insomnia. Everyone has reported some improvement in getting and staying asleep and most no longer suffer at all.
That’s more than even I dreamed of.
I will be releasing my new program shortly so be on the look out for my emails.
