Recent studies have shown that more people are getting overweight every year. This happens not only to adults but even to kids who have just started in school.

It was only after scientists discovered that these drugs had side effects and were related to cause heart valve disease that these were taken off the shelves. Later on, new drugs were developed and prescribed by doctors and many of which are still waiting for FDA approval.

A lot of factors cause this to happen such as genetics, overeating, the type of food taken into the body and as people age, the metabolism slows down making it harder than before to burn the food that was just consumed.

In the 1950s until the late 90s, doctors prescribed drugs for weight loss. The drug works by increasing the serotonin levels in the brain that makes the brain believe that the stomach is already full and thus, increases the persons metabolic rate.

It was only after scientists discovered that these drugs had side effects and were related to cause heart valve disease that these were taken off the shelves. Later on, new drugs were developed and prescribed by doctors and many of which are still waiting for FDA approval.

Most people have known friends or family members who have tried using diet pills and have seen tremendous improvement. The idea that a simple drug can change everything without the need to change the diet or sacrificing anything is very tempting. This has made consumers spend millions of dollars every year and has given drug companies a lot of money making and selling the drug.

Diet pills can be purchased either over-the-counter or prescribed by a doctor. Even with the advances in medical technology, these drugs can still cause a lot of health related problems which can be unpleasant such as diarrhea and vomiting, harmful such as tightness in the chest and urinary tract problems and fatal such as a heart attack or a stroke.

An overdose of the diet pills can cause tremors, confusion, hallucinations, shallow breathing, renal failure, heart attack and convulsions.

The side effects vary depending on the lifestyle and health of the person and can be minimized as long as one consults the doctor first before buying it.

Should one decide to stop using the drugs, studies have shown that there are also side effects. These include noticeable mood swings, hyper-activity, and pain in the stomach, insomnia and nightmares, severe irritability, extreme fatigue, depression, nausea, vomiting and trembling.

A lot of clinical tests will show that the drugs taken to lose weight really work. But this can only work if it is done with a low calorie diet and an exercise plan.

A good diet should have food from all the food groups. This should have vitamins, minerals and fiber. A lot can come from oats, rice, potatoes and cereals. The best still come from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micronutrients that are essential for a healthy diet. A person can jog every morning or sign up and workout in a gym. Just like taking any medicine, one should first consult the doctor before undergoing any form of exercise.

The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase ones metabolism and lose weight.

Why Building Strength Should Be Your Primary Goal

If you are wondering why I focus on strength training so much and think you should too then this article will tell you why.

Read this article now to discover some good reasons why I think building strength should be your number one goal (even if you just want to build a lot of muscle and burn a lot of fat)

1. Strength Training Is More Efficient:

7. Strength Training Is Great For Sports Activities

Strength is the core for all other physical qualities. Building up your strength boosts your power, explosiveness, speed, agility, endurance, and all that.

Plus, a lot of sports - especially martial arts - require athletes to have high relative strength. They need to be very strong for their size because they have to stay within a certain weight class.

There’s nothing worse than gaining 20 MORE pounds of muscle you have to carry down the field, or move around the ring to prevent getting blown away - and that 20 pounds of muscle is not doing you any good.

8. Strength Training Is Excellent For Females

The majority of women don’t want to seem like the hulk. They don’t want to acquire 20 pounds of muscle. They just want to get “toned”. As I mentioned in the past, strength training is the ultimate way to get the toned look.

So if you’re a lass you can become strong very fast and uplift your health and quality of life without taking away from your feminineness in the least.

The inflammatory arthritis diseases or spondyloarthropathies include various diseases such as Ankylosing spondylitis, the arthritis of bowel disease, reactive arthritis and the arthritis associated with psoriasis. The typical linking features of these diseases are enthesitis (an inflammation at the bone/ligament junction) and the presence of HLA B27, a gene on white blood cells. The inflammation at the entheses can develop into fibrosis and eventually to fusion of the joints from bone formation.

AS is the commonest of the spondyloarthropathies and its occurrence varies with the occurrence of the HLA B27 gene in the population, AS being less common in the tropics and more common in northern European countries. 0.1 to 1.0% of people are affected but this varies with latitude and is more common in white people. About 1-2% of people with the HLA B27 gene actually develop AS but this becomes 15-20% likelihood if they have a first degree relative with the disease.

AS occurs more often in males, with a 3:1 ratio, but females may suffer much milder disease or have minor symptoms which are not diagnosed. AS is a disease of young men, with most presenting before they are 40 years old, and 10-20% presenting with the disease before they are 16. On average people get the symptoms of the disease around 25 years old and are rarely diagnosed when over 50 years of age. The condition is often missed initially as it presents as low back pain so it is important to take a proper history. A useful question is “how does your back feel when you wake up” and AS patients will all say “very stiff”.

Ankylosing spondylitis has similarities but distinct differences from the much more common low back pain:

Back pain and stiffness in the morning, lasting at least half an hour or more The back pain and stiffness are improved by exercising Resting worsens the stiffness and pain Pain is worse later in the night Thirty to fifty percent of patients exhibit other joint symptoms Fatigue is typical Systemic inflammatory affects include fever, loss of weight and unwellness.

A significant reduction in the ranges of spinal motion is usually recorded by the physiotherapy examination of an AS patient, with a flattened lumbar curve and an accentuated thoracic kyphosis. Later involvement can include reduced neck ranges of motion and reduced chest excursion from involvement of the rib joints. Peripheral inflammation at insertion sites occurs in about one third of patients, the commonest sites being the insertion of the tendo Achilles on to the calcaneum and the insertion of the plantar ligament in the foot. These areas cope with large mechanical loads which may be why they more commonly occur.

Physiotherapy assessment of patients with Ankylosing spondylitis begins with postural assessment of spinal deformity and perhaps flexed knees. Increased cervico-thoracic kyphosis is common with a poking chin and rounded shoulders. General spinal mobility is obviously limited in normal movement and assessments are made of the lumbar, thoracic and neck ranges of motion. Other standardized measurements are taken to gage the progress of the disease or the affect of therapy. Areas of peripheral involvement are noted, e.g. the hips, and the appropriate measurements made, with palpation of any painful enthesis sites. Joint effusions, e.g. in the knees, are also possible if the disease is active, along with sleeping problems, sweating and feeling unwell.

Initially a physiotherapist might treat an active, inflamed site such as the tendo Achilles insertion using ultrasound, ice and gentle stretching, with foot problems responding to insole use. Whole spine exercises are taught with encouragement to get to the end of the movements, concentrating on antigravity movements including extension of the lumbar and thoracic spine, rotation of the thorax and neck retraction and rotations. To counter the typical spinal deformities, patients are taught to rest in good positions such as flat on a firm surface with only one pillow and lying prone. Pool therapy is very popular and effective and patient education is vital to maintain therapy over time.

When searching for local used clothing a great place to start is craigslist.com. This website will list many local places and may even have pictures and descriptions of the items so you won’t have to leave your house on a chance.

Discounts can be found all over the country in places like Goodwill and the Salvation Army. These places sell a large array of clothing and other items at steep discounts. Buy a suit that is your size, or close enough to be tailored to your size, and you will save money.

Shopping online does more than give you the instant gratification of a nice suit purchase. They also have lower operating costs than your typical store and can pass the savings directly down to their consumers.

This has been their practice for thousands of years, and so the discovery is not new. As far as the Western world is concerned, the idea of such a marvelous and effective little plant that has had a trial period lasting several thousand years is little short of a miracle solution. With the growing rate of obesity representing one of the greatest risks to health and average life spans in most of the developed nations, a safe and effective appetite suppressant is much needed. This is particularly true in the USA where about a third of adults are obese.

But the problem is that any plant which lives and grows in the harsh barren landscape of the Kalahari Desert is hardly likely to be found growing in lush fields that expand to the horizon. It is a relatively rare plant, and tricky to cultivate. This is the prime reason that makes a Hoodia weight loss supplement such a limited commodity.

The African Government is very much aware of the problems associated with the export of this plant. Clearly the financial benefits gained through the exporting and selling of Hoodia plants represents a valuable income, but the limitations on the export of Hoodia are very tight. This has made access to pure Hoodia very limited as it is - but there have been suggestions that the African Government may, at any time, cancel the exporting of Hoodia altogether. This means that there is great demand for Hoodia weight loss supplement, but no guarantee that this will remain able to meet demand.

So, with the exporting and availability of the Hoodia Gordonii plant being so limited, it is no surprise that so many providers and retailers of the dietary supplement are diluting the pure Hoodia in order to make the stock last as long as possible. The problem is, that unless Hoodia is pure and undiluted, it is likely to have no effect at all, or at least, very little effect.

For this reason, if you are considering purchasing a Hoodia weight loss supplement then it will be important to make sure of two things: firstly that the supplement is marked with the CITES certification, which means that it should be entirely pure, premium quality Hoodia, and secondly, it is helpful to read consumer reviews relating to the particular brand or retailer you are considering using. If previous consumers have had problems with the product, or have found it hasn’t had the expected or desired result, then they are likely to leave comments to this effect.
